This weekend I attended Kean University's Hack4ed. Wow! What a cool project! This was my first hackathon, but it definitely won't be my last.
It went like this: teachers (in teams), submitted ideas for new google apps scripts, something that would increase our workflow or improve the google apps for education experience. After revising the projects and completing the template, we attended the conference. At the conference, we were matched with our own personal team of hackers (see my awesome Rutger's boys above!). It was very interesting to observe the subculture of these techies!
While the boys were hacking away, my colleague and I attended workshops highlighting some of the google apps scripts for teachers. It was fantastic! I never realized these tools existed. Doctopus is a great script that is sure to save me tons of time. Thanks Andrew! The workshops made me eager to learn more about what google scripts have to offer.
Great job by Lisa Thuman, Daniel Scibinski, Andrew Stillman, and the rest of the event planners! I hope they offer this workshop again next year. Now that I have an idea what it's all about, I'll be sure to plan a winning script.
