I've been trying to plan my first day of class. I like to "wow" the students with a cool tech tool because it engages them and also provides them with a favorable impression of the class.
Most years, I use Voki to have the students create avatars to introduce themselves. This year, however, after attending Padcamp, I thought that I might try a tool I learned there, called Nearpod. With Nearpod, I can create a presentation that will allow me to introduce the syllabus, materials, survey student interest, and gather feedback. I can even have them draw and submit a picture of what they did on summer vacation. How cool is that?
